Reading time: 2 minutes
The AI-driven solution, currently in beta, aims to automate key production planning steps from a single image, streamlining operations and unlocking flexibility for manufacturers.
“Within two minutes,” says co-founder and CTO Simon Johnson, “you’ve gone from a photo [or tech pack] to the steps needed for a production line to actually make that garment.” Seamstream generates a full operational breakdown – with step-by-step descriptions, timings, and pattern pieces – based on uploaded imagery or sketches. The goal: to save up to three hours per product, while allowing customisation to suit factory-specific methods.
But Johnson is quick to emphasise that Seamstream is built for ongoing precision. “We’re continually expanding its capabilities so it can recognise an even broader range of garment styles and construction techniques,” he says. Powered by a database of more than 12,000 garment components, Seamstream already achieves 85-90% accuracy in interpreting construction details – a level expected to improve as its knowledge base grows and its coverage deepens.
