The Gesamtverband der deutschen Textil- und Modeindustrie e.V. is headquartered in Berlin and has an office in Brussels. textil+mode represents the political interests of the industry, is responsible for collective bargaining policy and informs its member associations, the regional and trade associations of the German textile and apparel industry, about all relevant issues.
The German textile and fashion industry is an important economic sector with annual sales of approximately 29 billion euros and with about 1,400 companies employing approximately 122,000 people in Germany. The strongest growth driver is technical textiles, which find their application in a wide range of high-tech products. The exceptionally high export ratio of more than 40 percent reflects the esteem in which German textile and apparel products are held on international markets and underscores the competitiveness of the companies, which hold a top position worldwide.
