Greenshowroom & Ethical Fashion Show: Latest milestone for eco-fashion trade fairs

2 Mar 2017

Greenshowroom and the Ethical Fashion Show Berlin move into the Funkhaus Berlin

Opportunity for growth: more hall space plus additional rooms and outdoor area

It's official: Messe Frankfurt is moving to a new location with its trade fair duo. For the upcoming Berlin Fashion Week (4-6 July 2017), Greenshowroom and Ethical Fashion Show Berlin will welcome their international visitors to the Funkhaus Berlin for the first time. 'We're looking forward to the July edition of our trade fairs at the Funkhaus Berlin on the banks of the river Spree. We are the first trade fair organisers to book this location and it offers us fantastic development opportunities', says Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt. 'The new location is another milestone in the development and growth of our fashion trade fairs'.

The Funkhaus Berlin in the east of the city comprises four listed buildings right next to the banks of the river Spree. The history of the Funkhaus, where up to 5000 people worked in the era of the German Democratic Republic, still feels very present. Much has been kept in its original state and it radiates all the charm of the pre-unification era. Up to now, the prestigious sound and broadcasting studios of the complex, which was built in the 1950s, have been booked by well-known musicians. Today, the Funkhaus Berlin acts as a new culture centre and in the near future it will be used increasingly as a trade fair location.

And this new chapter starts with the green fashion trade fairs, which will move to the 4000 sq. m. Shedhalle hall on the Funkhaus site in July 2017. The hall and other rooms on the site offer first-rate staging opportunities for fashion shows and potential for further growth for the fashion platform. At the same time, the new location also presents an opportunity to optimise the structure of the two trade fairs and organise the product range in a clearer way. Furthermore, the spacious outdoor area is an inviting place to spend time and relax away from the hustle and bustle of the trade fairs and is also a superb space for atmospheric evening events. The new event location thus provides the best prerequisites for an excellent fashion event with a special kind of flair.

Shuttle service extended
To ensure comfortable connections to the other event locations of Berlin Fashion Week, Messe Frankfurt is extending the shuttle service to get visitors to and from the Funkhaus Berlin. There are sufficient parking facilities on site for exhibitors and visitors travelling to the site by car.
