New location for Berlin Green Showroom and Ethical Fashion Show
The news spread like wildfire: next summer the two Berlin green fashion fairs, the Green Showroom and the Ethical Fashion Show, will be taking place at a new location. The two sustainability fairs will be moving to the bank of the Spree into Berlin’s Broadcasting House and there, from 4 to 6 July in the 4,000 sq m Shed Hall, will be exhibiting the trends for spring and summer 2018. “We are looking forward to the July edition of our fairs in Berlin Broadcasting House on the bank of the Spree, which we are the first trade-fair organiser to have booked, and which offers us fantastic opportunities”, says Olaf Schmidt, Vice President for Textiles & Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt. “The new location marks a further milestone in the development and growth of our fashion fairs.”
The fairs had already reached a milestone at their event in January. The Postbahnhof was fuller than it had ever been during the Green Showroom and the Berlin Ethical Fashion Show in the course of Berlin Fashion Week – such was the organiser’s welcome overall summary. Above all, the growing interest of the retail trade in sustainable fashion was striking, for it reflected a rethink by this so-called conventional sector, and also showed how demand was rising on the part of the consumer. “This is the first time we have been here and have made orders immediately. In this way, we are responding to the constantly rising demand for green fashion on the part of our customers and are expanding our range to include an attractive new development”, says Axel Haubrok from Susanne Kissel Fashions in Speyer, for instance.
179 environmentally friendly and socially responsible brands, plus initiatives and other sector participants, showed their wares from 17 to 19 January, enabling the organiser to feature the sector’s whole spectrum of sustainable fashion – from jeans to high fashion, from shoes to jewellery.
