With 165 exhibitors and more than 300 brands, Heimtextil India and Ambiente India attracted over 7,000 international buyers and professional visitors this June. The partner fairs in New Delhi are regarded as an important port of call for the sourcing of quality products and business-oriented design for the interior sector. Their overarching theme “My Heritage, My New India” spanned the spectrum from the country’s rich cultural legacy to contemporary designs with a modern take on Indian handicrafts. Together with the Institute of Indian Interior Designers (IIID), the fairs put the spotlight on design thinking as a commercial tool for the industry. And international speakers analysed the trends for 2019 during the panel discussion entitled “Looming Large – Textiles in Interior Design”.
Exhibitors reported international interest from Australia, China, France, Germany, Japan, the UK and the USA. Buyers from the Hospitality Purchase Managers Forum (HPMF), the Buying Agents Association (BAA) and the Corporate Gifting Association of India (CGAI) confirmed that the fair had enabled them to establish a strong network of suppliers, from whom they would regularly be sourcing home, lifestyle, fashion and textile products.
Another highlight of the event was the fourth edition of the Interior Lifestyle Awards for national textile and product designers. At an official evening event, the award was presented in the categories of home textiles and home décor. The winners will represent India at Heimtextil and Ambiente in Frankfurt in 2019.
