Back to nature. The daily sensory overload, excessive materialism and omnipresent abundance trigger a growing desire for simple things, authenticity and a connection with nature. Contemporary fashion also interprets this need: natural materials such as alpaca wool and olive leather; neutral, matt, dusky tones inspired by dried spices, fruits and teas; calm contrasts that play with structures and pure colour palettes – contemporary fashion reflects the trend towards naturalness. With sophisticated cuts and knitting patterns or innovative high-tech materials, the collections for autumn and winter 2018/19 move between modernity and tradition, space age and natural idyll.
The labels of the trade fair duo Greenshowroom & Ethical Fashion Show Berlin will present contemporary homages to these pairs of opposites at the upcoming Berlin Fashion Week. From jackets made from a self-designed, waterproof and environmentally friendly all-weather fabric to elaborate braid knit patterned pullovers with delicate bead embroidery – some 170 sustainable brands present their new collections from 16 to 18 January 2018 at the two trade visitor exhibitions organised by the Messe Frankfurt. Together with the new conference format FashionSustain, the event venue Kraftwerk Berlin is therefore the largest green hub for fair fashion and the sustainable lifestyle – not only during Berlin Fashion Week, but throughout Europe.
