Trade Show: Techtextil Frankfurt

Young talent competition

Techtextil Frankfurt is looking for fresh ideas from aspiring young talents. The theme of its competition is textile-based building materials for the city of the future. Submissions are now open.

October 2018

The sky is the limit: intricate lightweight structures, pop-up spaces, interactive interiors – entrants can really let their imaginations run wild! Students and young professionals from the fields of architecture, structural engineering and product design are invited to enter the “Textile Structures for New Building” competition (although participants with other specialisms are also welcome). The aim of the competition is to find innovative ideas for building with textile-based materials in the following categories: macro-architecture, micro-architecture, material innovation, environment and ecology, as well as composites and hybrid structures.

The closing date for submissions is 24 February 2019. The best submissions will be rewarded with cash prizes totalling 8,000 euros and presented at a special show at Techtextil Frankfurt from 14-17 May 2019, the leading international fair for technical textiles and nonwovens. This offers young talents the ideal opportunity to present their ideas to an international audience of professionals.

Participants will also be able to submit their entries in the context of “Urban Living – City of the Future”, which is the theme of the upcoming Techtextil’s special event. Here the focus will be on textile-based solutions for architecture, clothing, living and health, showing comprehensive visions for the urbanised society of tomorrow.

Supporting the competition as sponsors are the international network TensiNet, the University of Stuttgart’s Institute for Lightweight Structures and Conceptual Design and the Architonic platform for architecture and design.
