Dr Chanchai Sirikasemlert, Executive Director of THTI, reported about the current economic situation and highlighted the positive production developments in Thailand and the good business relationships with Europe: the total value of exports of textiles and particularly clothing to the EU, Thailand's third largest export destination, increased by 6.87% to 945 million US dollars in 2018. The most important business partner in the EU was Belgium, closely followed by Italy and Germany.
On behalf of Messe Frankfurt and the Texpertise Network, Olaf Schmidt provided information about the latest developments in the Texpertise Network and shared the latest news regarding the upcoming Techtextil and Texprocess, which will welcome more than 1800 international exhibitors to Frankfurt from 14-17 May.
More and more companies are focusing on sustainability
Mayouri Sengchanh from the trend research office Exalis Berlin was present as a trend expert and guest speaker. She talked about current market developments and made reference to the trend presentation at Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics last March. In addition to several other aspects, she emphasised the importance of sustainable production and ways of thinking and used the warning example of Bangkok, which is currently the fifth most polluted city in the world and deteriorating all the time. More and more companies are also focusing on sustainability at Techtextil and Texprocess. With “Sustainability at Techtexil” and “Sustainability at Texprocess”, the internationally leading trade fairs are making the sustainable approaches of their exhibitors highly visible. Numerous event formats also incorporate green aspects.
