The virus continues to spread: With more than 30,000 confirmed cases of infection, according to the World Health Organization the USA is meanwhile third in the list of countries most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic (status as of 23 March 2020, 18:00). The same evening, the number of people infected with the disease in the US state of Georgia increased to 800. The federal government of the USA too is asking its people to do their best to slow the spread. The trade shows Techtextil North America and Texprocess Americas, which were scheduled to go ahead in Atlanta, Georgia in May 2020, are therefore being postponed and will now take place October 1–3, 2020.
A venue to exchange ideas with industry leaders and generate new business partnerships: The co-location of Techtextil North America and Texprocess Americas has become one of the most important meeting places for the technical textile, nonwovens and sewn products industries. In a statement published on 13 March 2020, show director Kristy Meade said: "Up until this point, we were optimistic that May was far enough away to proceed with the events as planned. However, as the situation has evolved, we feel that we must act in the best interest of our exhibitors, visitors, and the industry overall." The decision was reached jointly in collaboration with the event stakeholders following in-depth analyses.
