Cotton, silk, jute – India is famous for these fabrics. The textile industry is one of the republic’s most important economic sectors. The 40 million people employed as spinners and weavers and in the production of apparel and finished goods warrant a ministry dedicated to the textile industry alone. During the 7th edition of Techtextil India at the Bombay Exhibition Center in Mumbai from 20 to 22 November 2019, more than 160 exhibitors will reflect the diversity of technical textiles. The textile suppliers will address the demand for technical solutions in 12 application areas, ranging from Agrotech to Sporttech and construction.
International pavilions with manufacturers from Austria, China, Germany, Italy and many other countries also indicate a strong interest in India’s booming home market among foreign manufacturers. Composite materials will be given an own platform, “World of Composites”. Techtextil India offers insights into both the flourishing market for technical textiles and the promising development of textile processing machinery. The VDMA Textile Machinery Association reports for instance that in 2017, India was second only to China as the most important export market for German spinning machinery.
