China is the undisputed leader of the global car market. Although new vehicle sales have fallen since 1992, the market for new energy vehicle (NEV) especially is improving. This comprises battery electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid vehicles and fuel cell electric vehicles. Last year, NEV production totalled 1.27 million units, an impressive increase of 60 per cent. This means more electric vehicles are sold in China than in the rest of the world combined. The Chinese government subsidises this sector and has set a target of selling seven million electric vehicles by 2025. This potential of the Chinese automotive sector makes the CiNE trade show taking place in Shanghai from 3 to 5 June 2019 all the more attractive. Just 50 per cent of the demand for automotive textiles is met by domestic producers, which offers favourable opportunities for suppliers from overseas. Previous editions of the trade show welcomed buyers of leading automobile brands and textile suppliers such as Autoliv, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Lear Corporation, Lydall, Toyota Boshoku, Volkswagen and Wangbo Co. Ltd.
This year the trade show will for the first time take place in the Shanghai Convention & Exhibition Center of International Sourcing. The China International Nonwovens Expo & Forum is supported by the trade show Techtextil and organised by the Sub-Council of Textile Industry (CCPIT), the China Nonwovens & Industrial Textiles Association (CNITA), the Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry (INDA) and Messe Frankfurt (HK).
