JIAM Osaka, which is organised by Messe Frankfurt Japan Ltd, the Japanese branch of German trade show manager Messe Frankfurt, was originally scheduled to run in May this year. In March, Messe Frankfurt Japan Ltd announced that the trade show would be postponed due to the Covid-19 crisis. Now, the decision was made to stage JIAM Osaka from 30th November to 3rd December 2022. Japan Sewing Machinery Manufacturers Association (JASMA) is following the Japanese government’s decision to extend the state of emergency nationwide. Shigemi Mina, Chairman of JIAM Osaka 2022 Executive Committee, believes that the situation will have stabilised by then for the trade show's participants to join again. “We hope that this news, and the prospects of a successful JIAM event in 2022, will inject some optimism into the sewing industry – especially under the current situation,” Shigemi Mina said.
The biennial trade show, which premiered in 2008, takes place on a space of roughly 25,000m2 at the Intex Osaka exhibition centre. The 2016 edition, which ran from 6th to 9th April, attracted more than 15,000 visitors, of which about 3,700 travelled to Osaka from abroad.
