Messe: Cinte Techtextil China

The crowd meets in Shanghai

From 2nd to 4th September 2020, the industry got together at the Shanghai New International Expo Center to exchange information and network. Apart from the physical event in Shanghai, there was a digital platform for all those who could not attend in person because of travelling restrictions. Due to the great response to the trade show, Chinte Techtextil China will in future not take place every two years, but every year.

September 2020

More than 400 exhibitors and over 15,300 visitors got together at Cinte Techtextil China in Shanghai to exchange information about innovative technical textiles. From 2nd to 4th September 2020, the Shanghai International Expo Center with its 38,000 square metres became the industry's meeting place. A digital platform allowed buyers and suppliers to meet online even before the trade show kicked off. This way, all interested parties could participate in the event despite ongoing travelling restrictions. "While some things changed this edition, namely the addition of a new online platform to allow those who couldn’t travel to Shanghai to source from our exhibitors, what remained the same was the fair’s strength as a platform to capture the opportunities of China’s still-growing technical textiles and nonwovens market,” says Wendy Wen, Senior General Manager at Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd.

The exhibition centre was packed. The large influx of visitors proved that the trade show was a big success – despite Covid-19 restrictions. The number of visitors to the September 2020 edition increased by 16% over the event in 2018. In addition, there was a strong response to the online platform. The positive reaction to Cinte Techtextil China has led to a change: “With the growing success of the fair over recent years, we have made the decision to change Cinte Techtextil from a biennial event to an annual one, a move which has been widely welcomed by exhibitors and visitors alike. The reasons for this change are we believe the strong demand in the Chinese technical textiles and nonwovens market will continue in the years ahead,” Wen explains.

As with the previous edition of Cinte Techtextil China, the majority of exhibitors were Chinese exhibitors. Due to the current situation, there was a specially dedicated area for medical protective textiles. In this area, suppliers could showcase products and innovations aimed to help prevent pandemics.
