China is the world’s biggest producer and exporter of nonwovens. It also has the highest demand for consumer goods made of nonwovens – and all signs are pointing towards growth: demand for nonwovens in China is predicted to reach 4.9 million metric tonnes in 2022, with an annual growth of 6.9%, while the global demand is expected to reach 12.2 million tonnes by 2022, with an annual increase of 4.4% (source: China Nonwovens & Industrial Textiles Association).
The CiNE trade fair, which is opening its doors from 3-5 June 2019 in Shanghai, is dedicated exclusively to nonwovens. The industry event takes place every two years in Shanghai, and this summer it will be held at the Shanghai Convention & Exhibition Center of International Sourcing for the first time. Wendy Wen, Senior General Manager of the fair’s co-organiser, Messe Frankfurt (HK), confirms the industry’s excellent future prospects: “The demographic changes, evolution of the manufacturing sector and greater awareness of environmental protection have really driven the growth of China’s nonwovens industry in the last few years. We anticipate production growth will remain strong to meet export demand, even if the Chinese economy growth slows further.”
With support from Techtextil, the specialist fair is organised by the Sub-Council of Textile Industry (CCPIT), the China Nonwovens & Industrial Textiles Association (CNITA), the Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry (INDA) and Messe Frankfurt (HK).
