Young Talents in the Spotlight

Young companies and talents mean fresh ideas, unconventional approaches and innovative developments. With a wide-ranging talent support programme and a new competition, the next Heimtextil taking place from 8 to 11 January 2019 is placing newcomers in the spotlight.

Spotlight on newcomer initiatives at Heimtextil: The upcoming international trade show for home and contract textiles will feature a fresh initiative for newcomers. With the NEW & NEXT university competition, Messe Frankfurt is promoting the textile designers of the future. The winners will be offered an international platform with a stand at Heimtextil in the framework of NEW & NEXT, a display area for start-ups with fresh design ideas. “The competition offers university graduates the opportunity to present their final dissertations to an international trade audience and establish contacts with representatives from the industry”, says Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt.

In addition, a second competition titled “House of Textiles” looks at what role home textiles will play in 2025 in the areas of living, working and travel. The competition for students of architecture, interior design and textile design is hosted by the Association of the German Home Textile Industry (Heimtex) in collaboration with Heimtextil and various universities and colleges.

With the Talent Lab Lectures, a series designed for industry newcomers, and the ZVR Junior Day, a programme for young interior designers organised in collaboration with the Zentralverband Raum und Ausstattung (ZVR), and a young masters’ meet at DecoTeam, Heimtextil offers a broad range of provisions for newcomers.
