Gender, nationality, culture – identities are complex and are formed by unique individual stories. In our digital times these developments and formations take place both offline as online. Under the title “Where I belong”, Heimtextil will pool trend outlooks for 2020/2021 at its edition from 7th to 10th January 2020, referring to the quest of finding identity. At the official preview last Wednesday, Heimtextil’s “Trend Council”, which consists of Stijlinstituut Amsterdam, London studio FranklinTill and Danish agency SPOTT Trends & Business, presented the coming design trends.
A live transmission from the Textile Museum in the Dutch city of Tilburg offered journalists and trade visitors an outlook on future lifestyle, material, colour and design trends ahead of next year’s trade show. The main theme “Where I belong” covers five trends that were interpreted by design studios and photographers. At the upcoming trade show, exhibitors will show their produce in a “Trade Space” divided into the areas “Maximum Glam”, “Pure Spiritual”, “Active Urban”, “Heritage Lux” and “Multi-Local”. A “Future Materials Library” will showcase new sustainable material innovations for the home textile industry. On around 2,000 square metres the “Trend Council” will also organise a forum mainly for textiles and other materials that can be re-used after the event. The imaginary interactive experience at Heimtexil leaves it to the visitors to identify the trends that match their own selves and their respective target groups.
