Trade Show: Heimtextil Frankfurt

The Future is urban

Heimtextil Frankfurt inspires and informs visitors about current trends

Urbanisation is one of the major trends of our age. Now for the first time, more than half of the global population lives in cities – with some undesirable consequences: due to the advance of urbanisation a lack of affordable housing, environmental pollution and growing waste production have become global tasks for the future.

Designers and architects are already finding solutions with creative approaches and processes which refer to and incorporate the new employment models, the diverse demands of various age groups, the democratisation of digital production technologies and the deviation from traditional family models. From modular sofa to furniture designed for quick assembly and dismantling to the adaptable co-working space; from offices with lush conservatories that enable work in a more natural environment and furniture made from textile waste materials to compact digital knitting machines that allow smaller design studios or schools to produce their own fabrics – the pioneers highlight innovative options for the urbanised way of life and work.

International design and trend experts – with designer office FranklinTill taking the lead – have in collaboration with Heimtextil analysed current trends and identified the four trending themes The Flexible Space, The Healthy Space, The Re-Made Space und The Maker Space. At the Heimtextil Frankfurt, the leading international trade fair for home and contract textiles currently underway from 9 to 12 January 2018, the “Theme Park” in Halle 6.0 presents an overview of these and other market developments and the trends for 2018/2019. The location invites visitors to explore the uniquely staged lifestyle trends and the associated design, material and colour trends.

2,975 exhibitors from 64 countries present their textile innovations and designs at the current Heimtextil Frankfurt.
