A vital business platform for the industry: The autumn edition of Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles reconnected the industry at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai from 9–11 October 2021, attracting in excess of 700 exhibitors and 20,000 visitors. The best home and contract products were showcased on international pavilions; the five Chinese regional pavilions Hangzhou, Shaoxing, Huzhou, Haining and Tongxiang likewise presented diverse product ranges. Wendy Wen, Senior General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd. says: "Due to the valuable cooperation of many parties and the continued support of our exhibitors and other partners, we were able to hold the fair as scheduled despite a number of challenges. Since the pandemic situation was brought under control in China last year, we have expended considerable resources to ensure our textile fairs still take place to provide trading platforms that connect the global industry." The sheer pleasure of meeting others face-to-face again to network and do business was evident on all sides – and essential. John Wang, General Manager, Suzhou Roufang Textile Technology Co Ltd., who participated in Intertextile as an exhibitor, said: "We participated in Intertextile Shanghai for the 10th time this year. 90% of our customers were sourced from the fair, so we are still very confident in Intertextile. I think it is still necessary to have physical shows, because we do fabrics, which is not like producing final products, so people still need to talk face to face, and touch the fabrics."
Highlights of the autumn edition 2021: The topic of sustainability played a leading role in Shanghai, as it does in all of Messe Frankfurt's Texpertise Network trade shows. From the fringe programme and the innovative businesses among the exhibitors to the speakers in the various seminars, sustainability was a leading theme at this year's Intertextile Home Textiles. The focus on design is a further feature of the trade show: The Design Talk session offered visitors a series of presentations by leading international designers from China, Japan, Europe and elsewhere, who shared their insights into design. In addition, a new concept this year titled New Voices of Top Youth Upholstery Designers – Intertextile Upholstery Design and City Roving Exhibition showcased the work of six groups of young local designers from all over China.
The autumn edition of Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles was held from 9–11 October 2021 alongside the concurrent shows Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics Autumn Edition, Yarn Expo Autumn, PH Value and CHIC. The next fair in this series, Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles Spring Edition 2022, will take place from 10–12 March 2022 in Shanghai.
