Trade Show: IFFT/Interior Lifestyle Living

A Story of Success

The IFFT/Interior Lifestyle Living, one of the leading interior and design events in Japan, closed with a 6 per cent increase in visitor numbers. The international trade show attracted a total of 17,574 visitors to the exhibition centre Tokyo Big Sight.

From furniture via tableware and design gadgets to household goods: 424 exhibitors (342 from Japan, 82 from overseas) showcased their latest interior design products at the IFFT/Interior Lifestyle Living from 14 to 16 November 2018.

Each of these products tells a story and behind each product we find the design work of one or more persons. In addition to the function and the design itself, these background stories are of growing interest to the consumer and provide an important reason for buying the product. For this reason, these stories – presented on cards that visitors could collect – took centre stage in the special exhibition zone ‘A Story of Beginning’, designed by Mr. Kenta Nakamura, jury member of the Good Design Awards.

The talks held at the 'LIFE_STYLE SALON 2018’ provided a wealth of information on topics ranging from trend information to new business ideas. In addition, the jury of the IFFT/Interior Lifestyle Living Awards announced the two winners of the Young Designer Award 2018: Nooca for their jewellery designs and Asemi Co. for their ceramics collection. The Young Designer Award promotes the next generation of the interior design industry. In addition, the category Best Buyer’s Choice 2018 was won by BP with an adjustable table mirror.

The IFFT/Interior Lifestyle Living is held annually in November. The next edition will take place from 20 to 22 November 2019. The sister trade show Interior Lifestyle Tokyo, based on the Messe Frankfurt formats Ambiente and Heimtextil, will take place from 17 to 19 July 2019.
