Quantity and quality: Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles, held from 14 to 16 March at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, showcased an extensive range of international exhibitors and their premium-quality product innovations for interiors.
The wide array of design options available for interiors was showcased during the Spring Edition of Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles, held from 14 to 16 March at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. Alongside Chinese exhibitors, global textile businesses showed their newest products to an international audience and the ever-growing Chinese market. The fair took place during the peak phase of the sourcing season for home textiles and finished products in China and attracted 12 % more buyers than last year. A total of 20,870 industry insiders and representatives from 68 countries and regions came to the show. The number of exhibitors also increased to 232, to include well-known international brands such as the non-profit organisation Cotton Council International and the environmentally-friendly textile corporation Asahi Kasei. This created a broad spectrum of sourcing opportunities, which was enhanced by a well-rounded supporting programme and the fascinating presentations of traditional Chinese textile techniques in the Heritage Zone. Finished products such as bedding, towels and upholstery fabrics were particularly well received.
Wendy Wen, Senior General Manager of Messe Frankurt, described the trade fair as an effective sourcing event: “Thanks to the revitalised market conditions in China and the increased number of buyers, our exhibitors have had a successful show. Not only did they receive onsite orders and make contact with new clients, but they also valued Intertextile Shanghai as a channel to build up their brand so as to expend their business network in China.” Besides the more vigorous Chinese market, another reason for the buyer increase this year was the significant growth of four concurrent trade fairs: the Spring Edition of Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles took place at the same time as Yarn Expo, Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics, the fashion garment fair CHIC and the knitting fair PH Value. This led to a high diversity of buyers and growing demand in various sectors of the textile industry.
