New Work – the new way of living and working – is the talk of the town. The transformation of corporate structures and processes also entails new challenges for interiors and object design. Interior Lifestyle Living, to be held 20–22 November 2019, puts a spotlight on the future world of work. At Tokyo Big Sight South halls 1, 2, 3 and 4, 347 exhibitors will welcome an international audience and showcase a wide range of products for domestic and work environments, from furniture and tableware to technical gadgetry.
Remote working, shared offices and co-working spaces are becoming increasingly common in Japan. The showcase “Office-Up” focuses on future office concepts. Curated by Makoto Tanijiri and Ai Yoshida from the renowned architecture office Suppose Design Office, it presents new trends in pop-up offices so that visitors can immerse themselves in the new world of work. The “Creative Resource” zone meanwhile showcases a selection of innovative interior materials and raises awareness of the reuse of material resources with the special showcase “What is upcycling? At the special exhibition “Artistic Textile Editors Tokyo 2019”, the focus is on textile trends. Here, visitors will be able to not only discover coming developments in advance, but also make purchases and establish business contacts. Heimtextil, the largest international trade show for home and contract textiles from Germany, will also appear in Japan with the “Heimtextil Trends Lounge”.
The “Lifestyle Salon” with its seminars on developments in interior design and the working world is just one part of a fascinating fringe programme. In addition, the winners of the Interior Lifestyle Living Awards will be announced on the first day of the show and presented in two categories – the “Best Buyer’s Choice” in products and the “Young Designer Award”.
