Trade Show: Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles

Market trends in the Middle Kingdom

The Chinese market is increasingly becoming a focal point of international trade and it is gradually expanding its global influence. The Chinese market trends of special interest to the home textiles segment will be showcased at the trade show Intertextile Home Textiles in Shanghai (28 to 31 August 2019), creating new synergies.

December 2018

In 2018 the growing middle class in China was once again responsible for a general rise in consumption. While household products were once bought one by one as and when required, households in China are now increasingly investing in furnishings for the entire home in line with a specific design trend. In response, suppliers of products for the home have developed special services so that they can offer their customers individual interior design solutions from one provider. Here, Chinese families tend to favour established brands. Ecology is another trend that influenced the Chinese market for home textiles in 2018. Confronted by a host of environmental problems, the awareness of environmental issues among Chinese consumers is on the increase, and with it, the demand for environmentally friendly products. To reflect these market developments, the upcoming Spring Edition of the Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles (12 to 14 March 2019) will showcase current market trends. The major Autumn Edition of the Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles (28 to 31 August 2019) will again feature more than 1,000 exhibitors from all over the world who hope to play a decisive role in the Asian market for home textiles in years to come. The trade show is well established as a leading business platform in Asia and in 2018 it attracted around 40,000 visitors from 104 countries. In addition to classical home textiles, the Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles focuses on the contract business and combines a wide range of events for architects, interior designers and hoteliers in the format Contract Business 360°. This enables for example premium manufacturers of upholstery fabric to network with furniture makers and to supply hotels with especially durable fire-retardant and dirt-resistant upholstered furniture.

The upcoming edition of the Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles is also organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, the Sub-Council of Textile Industry (CCPIT) and the China Home Textile Association (CHTA).
