Old hands and new talents at Interior Lifestyle Tokyo. For its 120th anniversary, Japanese paper trading company Takeo Co Ltd decided to show at the trade show for the first time to expand its business network. Next to old hands also young inspiring designers presented at the Tokyo Big Sight West halls from 17th to 19th July 2019. Kodama Toki, who won this year’s “Young Designer Award”, presented her unpretentious ceramics in the “Next” area dedicated to especially to up and coming industry talents. Nicolette Naumann, vice president of the world’s leading consumer goods trade show Ambiente, awarded up-and-coming brand Kodama Toki for the harmony between the modern touch of the tableware and its classic gold decoration and invited founder Kiyomi Kodama to the 2020 edition of Ambiente in Germany.
The trade brimmed with highlights. “The Corner Shop – How to make a market” in the atrium included a pop-up store that gave visitors inspiration and the possibility to interact. Exhibitors at the “Nordic Lifestyle” area lured visitors to the “Hyggelig Hours” with Nordic beer and Scandinavian cocktails. The “Lifestyle Salon” event allowed interior design hot shots to showcase their products and discuss the latest industry news and trends.
A total of 770 Japanese and overseas exhibitors presented at this year’s Interior Lifestyle Tokyo, which attracted 21,500 visitors from 26 countries. At next year’s event, which will run from 3rd to 5th June 2020, the country’s leading companies and buyers from all over the world will this time gather at the Tokyo Big Sight Aomi halls.
