August 2020
It was the starting signal for a new beginning in Shanghai - after trade shows had to take a long break, the National Exhibition and Convention Center Shanghai opened its doors for the 26th edition of Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles. The home textiles industry got together from 24th to 26th August to exchange information, to network and do business. A total of 600 exhibitors and more than 25,000 buyers met in Shanghai. The varied trade show programme gave visitors to get an idea about current trends and designs in the industry, obviously with the strictest hygiene and protection measures in place. By carrying out regular temperature checks, applying specific distancing rules and thoroughly disinfecting the premises, organiser Messe Frankfurt made sure that all visitors stayed safe and healthy.
Time for digital networking - apart from the physical event, there was an online platform giving industry players the possibility to take part in the trade show who were not able to get to the trade show because of travelling restrictions and safety regulations. “Intertextile has always been dedicated to providing an ideal platform for the international home textile industry and we are delighted to continue to do so during these unprecedented, challenging times. In view of the current global travel restrictions, this year’s fair offered a series of digital tools in addition to the traditional exhibition, allowing the fair to reach as wide an audience as possible. We are glad that this new format was highly recognised by the participating exhibitors and buyers alike,” said Wendy Wen, Senior General Manager at Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd. Some 200 buyers and 60 exhibitors from more than 50 countries used the digital platform to get information about current the hottest home textile industry trends and get down to networking. By means of a live stream, suppliers could present their products and sell them to interested buyers in a live chat.
The next edition of Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles will run from 10th to 12th March 2021.
