Lasting, sustainable and circular

What will the trends be that impact the way we live and design our homes in the 2022/2023 season? International trend researchers have answered the question during an online conference at the beginning of September that was broadcast live from Frankfurt am Main.

September 2021

The "Next Horizons" design forecast from Heimtextil Trend Council is unambiguous. Everything about our homes and the way we design them will centre around sustainability and the protection of existing resources in the 2022/23 season. On 1st September 2021, on behalf of the Trend Council, Anja Bisgaard Gaede from SPOTT trends & business from Denmark, Anne Marie Commandeur from Stiljinstituut Amsterdam and Caroline Till from London-based Studio FrankTill gave insight into the future of interior design in an online conference broadcast live from Frankfurt am Main. The conference provided valuable inspiration and information to designers, interior designers and decorators.

Off to new horizons. Heimtextil's long-term goal is to make the world of interior design more sustainable and circular to ensure that no waste is produced during the process of creating innovative design products in the first place. The four trend themes of upcoming Heimtextil offer up a new approach towards new environmentally friendly creation processes. "Deep Nature" reflects slow processes, natural structures and living herbal colours. "Hyper Nature" wants to re-establish a connection with nature with the help of technology, using, for example, responsive and technical materials and flowing patterns in clear and bright colours. "Beyond Identity" focuses on recycled synthetic fabrics, vintage silk and satin, textiles in natural colours and cellulose-based fabrics in pastel tones, grey and khaki. "Empowered Identity" pledges to create new relations between heritage cultures and future generations with the spotlight being on recycled and heritage textiles combined with handicraft, coral tones and purple complement the vivid range of primary colours.

Heimtextil brings the international furnishing sector together in Frankfurt am Main. All the trend information from 'Next Horizons' is available digitally in advance. Here, Heimtextil presents the individual trends.
