The winners have been chosen. At the upcoming Heimtextil from 7th to 10th January 2020, prices will be awarded for the second time as part of the “New & Next University Competition”. Young and upcoming textile designers convinced the jury with their creative approaches and reinterpretation of traditional craftsmanship. “We also found the use of natural materials to be extremely innovative and in keeping with the zeitgeist”, says Hervé Francois, a member of the jury and general manager of Mitwill Textiles Europe in France. The participants that convinced the jury the most were the University of Bolton in the UK, the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture in Pakistan and Hochschule Luzern Design & Kunst in Switzerland. The jury was made up of representatives of the industry as well as associations and universities.
There were eighteen submissions for the competition, three of which won. Students from national and international universities were able to submit three representative design proposals, but only the best will be able to present their work in the renowned “New & Next” area in hall 3.0. For many years Heimtextil has been promoting young brands and emerging talents on dedicated exhibition spaces. The trade show expects more than a dozen of exciting new designs and fresh design ideas to be present at Heimtextil in January 2020.
