Trade Show: Heimtextil

Meeting in person

After trade shows around the world were forced to take a break because of the Corona virus, there is now a silver lining - exhibitors and visitors will be able to get together again at Heimtextil in Frankfurt from 12th to 15th January 2021. Of course, with a carefully designed protection and hygiene concept in place.

June 2020

The Corona pandemic has brought the world to an unscheduled stop. Trade shows in Frankfurt were also affected by the virus. For safety reasons, trade shows have been postponed or cancelled. So now that the planning of future events is back on track, there is reason for great joy. Messe Frankfurt has developed an extensive protection and hygiene concept that will be put in place at upcoming events as soon as this autumn.  The concept's goal is to make sure that visitors have a carefree time at Heimtextil in January 2021 and to fulfil the wishes of industry players, who want to meet in person again. „Despite and maybe because of the pandemic situation, we get the feedback that a big part of international industry players is very optimistic when looking towards Heimtextil at the beginning of the coming year," says Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles and Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt.

For its protective and hygiene concept, Messe Frankfurt has followed the recommendations of the Robert-Koch-Institut as well as the regulations of the state of Hesse. To make sure that exhibitors and visitors can keep the required distance, there will changes like bigger stands and broader aisles. Products on showcase will be protected by shields like glass display cabinets, allowing visitors to get an idea of the exhibits without having to touch them. Despite the safety precautions, visitors to Heimtextil will have access to a vast range of foods and beverages also in 2021. As usual, the trade show's catering partner Accente will provide participants of Heimtextil with a culinary offer, albeit without unpackaged food or drinks.

What the event will exactly look like in the end, however, is not yet sure. „We are very much aware that we cannot say for sure what the protection and hygiene regulations will be at the time when the trade show takes place," says Olaf Schmidt. Heimtextil will react to possible changes accordingly when needed. Trade show participants will not only have the possibility to meet face to face, there will also be an expanded digital offer to create an all-round experience for everyone concerned.
