Bigger. More international. Busier. At Heimtextil Frankfurt 2018, the largest and most important international trade fair for home and contract textiles, records were being broken left, right and centre from 9-12 January. With 2,975 exhibitors (compared to 2,949 in 2017) from 64 countries, Heimtextil Frankfurt not only started the eighth year in a row with more exhibitors, but with 89% foreign exhibitors it was also more international than ever before. This growth is also reflected in the visitor numbers: around 70,000 visitors from 135 countries experienced a diverse programme, exciting trend presentations and a whole host of varied new designs and products by international market leaders. “With increases in both the numbers of visitors and exhibitors, Heimtextil has impressed across the board, underlining its unique position as the world’s leading fair,” explains Detlef Braun, Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt.
These record figures also reflect the continuation of the trend towards an increased use of textiles in private and public spaces: “Home textile products are again significantly more visible than they were a few years ago. This confirms the signals we have observed over the past one to two years“, said a delighted Martin Auerbach, Managing Director of the Association of the German Home Textiles Manufacturers. “The diversity of home textiles products, designs and colours makes the international trade fair platform for home textiles a trailblazing annual event to start the year.“
The hot topic of the leading fair: urban design in the context of architecture and the hotel industry. Under the title “The Future is Urban”, international design experts visualised the megatrend of urbanisation in the “Theme Park” trend area. With the new “Interior. Architecture. Hospitality Expo”, Heimtextil is also shifting the focus on contract textiles.
The next edition of Heimtextil, the international trade fair for home and contract textiles, will be taking place from 8-11 January 2019 in Frankfurt am Main.
