The living standard in China has significantly improved since the People’s Republic joined the WTO 17 years ago. While China ranks 82nd in the world by per capita income, its GNP has risen dramatically from 9.6 billion Yuan in 2001 to 82.7 billion Yuan (about 12 billion USD) last year.
China has been the world’s second-largest economy since 2010. According to a forecast by the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, this year the economic power of the Middle Kingdom is expected to exceed even that of the Eurozone. China’s middle class is growing, resulting in a wealth of new consumer needs. This is reflected in the growing demand for textile household products. Around half of the amount spent annually on textile household items is spent on new bedding products. According to the Chinese National Bureau of Statistics, in comparison with last year the sales figures for bed linen, pillows and covers rose by a thumping 6.2 per cent to 8.3 billion USD, with this figure set to increase in future. And this was just between the months of January and September.
The sourcing specialist trade show Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles targets this exceptionally promising market. From 12 to 14 March 2019 it showcases not only bedding and table linen but also new textile products in towelling and carpet goods, textile design, technical home textiles and much more. This coming spring in the National Exhibition and Convention Center Shanghai, around 200 national and international suppliers will exhibit their product ranges and network with buyers from China and the rest of the world.
The Spring Edition of the Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles is organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK), the CCPIT and the CHTA. The established trade show runs at the same time as four other international textile events in Shanghai: The Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics, the Yarn Expo Spring, the knitting exhibition PH Value and the fashion trade show CHIC.
