An exceptional trade show year: Many trade shows were cancelled or postponed earlier this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Messe Frankfurt therefore came up with something special for Texworld USA, Apparel Sourcing USA and Home Textiles Sourcing Expo: From 21–23 July 2020, virtual talks, presentations and seminars enabled more than 460 exhibitors and 4,000 buyers from 16 countries to connect and network. “The industry was searching for an alternative solution to reach global suppliers during these challenging times. As evidenced by the tremendous support from high quality independent designers, buyers and brands, Texworld USA and Apparel Sourcing USA are helping meet that need,” commented Jennifer Bacon, Show Director, Fashion and Apparel, Messe Frankfurt North America.
Sustainability initiatives, market shifts and the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic – the trade show's digital summer edition addressed an extensive range of topics. In a series of seminars, experts offered insights into the future of the industry. In addition, more than 20,000 products from 40 categories were showcased on the virtual platform. A matchmaking tool helped the online visitors connect quickly and easily with the right suppliers. Using artificial intelligence, the programme identified relevant suppliers and connected interested parties via video conferencing or chat tools. From Calvin Klein to Adrianna Papell and Nordstrom: International brands from France, Italy, India, Brazil and many other countries participated in the virtual trade fair and addressed current industry topics. “This spectacular collection of brands is a compelling reflection of our position in the market”, stated Bacon.
As the largest sourcing event on the East Coast, Texworld USA is one of the industry's most important marketplaces and attracts international experts, product specialists and designers to the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City every year. The trade show's digital platform will remain open for suppliers and buyers for the next 45 days.
