For the 25th anniversary edition of Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics, the trade show’s organisers have come up with a bigger supporting programme than ever. This because apart from looking for fashion trends, the international textile industry is increasingly seeking technical innovations that will make their production lean, efficient and digital as well as holistic solutions to take into account the growing demand for more sustainability and eco-friendly management.
From this point of view, textile trade shows are starting to be more than mere showcases for products. More and more, they are becoming platforms for exchange, knowledge and services. The alliterative rule of three “Trends, technology and transparency” is the name of a supporting programme of Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics that presents and discusses the key issues of a successful future for the textile industry in three distinctive areas of the National Exhibition and Convention Center.
The “Textile Dialogue” offers a compact overview of both designs and trends. Next to presentations from prominent forecasters and experts like Ornella Bignami, art director at Elementi Moda S.r.l., and David Shah, team member of Pantone Color Institute and CEO of View Publications, there are consumer and lifestyle panels on “FutureCast 2021: New Consumer Rules”. This format identifies and discusses five sub-trends of the mega trend “individualisation”. These sub-trends are “ThreadStart”- smart fashion, “Redux State” – the art of paring down, “CultureRemix” – where experimenting the new rule, “FlexState” – as tech and style converge and “NeoUrbanity” – an expression of colour and movement of cities.
The “Talking Point” area features technology seminars, talks on artificial intelligence in factories and a “Licensing China” event focused on IP fashion merchandising. The “Smart Factory” forum will take a close look at the use of artificial intelligence in the textile industry including its application in security, warehousing and logistics. These aspects and the sustainability issue will be bridged by a panel discussion on the role of sustainable automatization processes that discusses the challenges of sustainability in terms of “Industry 4.0”.
Shanghai’s first ever Fashionsustain conference will be held in the “Forum Space” area. A keynote session will be followed by three moderated sessions on sustainable innovations, practices and business models. The main point for discussion will be how designers, suppliers and brands can work together to provide transparency.
The anniversary event of Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics will run alongside Yarn Expo Autumn, CHIC and PH Value at the National Exhibition and Convention Center from 25th to 27th September 2019 and is organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd together with CCPIT and China Textile Information Center.
