The fashion industry’s ecological footprint remains firmly in the global spotlight. At the same time, a new generation is expressing its identity primarily online. Sustainability and innovative technologies – these and other topics are at the focus of the upcoming Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics, which will bring together a total of around 3,300 exhibitors from 23 countries and regions.
The latest Intertextile Directions fabric and pattern trends for spring/summer 2020 illustrate a world of sustainable fashion, where innovative technology supports fashion for modern lifestyles. This trend guide explains the season’s new theme, “Hybrid”, which is divided into four trends. While the “Human Vision” trend explores the intersection between manmade and natural, “Earth Energy” is all about responsible slow living in the form of eco-conscious materials like organic cotton, linen and denim with technical coatings for functionality. The “Well Lab” trend is inspired by future-thinking revolutionaries and is repackaging eco-friendly materials in vibrant colours. “Hype Glam” presents glamorous materials with sports and lifestyle influences. Fabric samples will be displayed in the Intertextile Directions Trend Forum and experts will also be analysing the SS20 trends in a series of seminars.
Three on-site venues, three topics: the fringe programme of this edition of Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics will take place in three onsite venues, each dedicated to a different topic covering trends, sustainability and business strategies. Which challenges is the Vietnamese textile and garment industry facing? What new textile products, technologies, environmentally friendly solutions and services are making their way onto the Chinese market? These and other questions will be answered in various panel discussions, talks and forums.
Another development at the focus of the fair are the manifold sourcing needs within the garment industry. Flexible solutions will be the key factor here. The exhibitors of Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics offer solutions for special sourcing needs – from custom-made products down to small order quantities. The VIP Business Matching Programme will facilitate tailor-made meetings between exhibitors and VIP buyers, while country and region pavilions and zones will also be offering a geographical breakdown.
Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Spring Edition is co-organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, the Sub-Council of Textile Industry (CCPIT) and the China Home Textile Association (CHTA). The trade fair is taking place from 12-14 March 2019 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) – at the same time as Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles, Yarn Expo Spring, PH Value and CHIC. In 2018, the fair was visited by 82,314 people from 104 countries and regions.
