July 2021
The Covid-19 pandemic has triggered a change in values and customers are now keener on sustainability. This also affects the yarn and fibre business. According to estimates from market researchers 360 Research Reports, the market volume for recycled yarns will increase by 6.3% to more than ten billion US dollars by 2026. "Sustainability plays a key role in the recently released 14th Five-Year Plan for China's textile and apparel sector, which commits to the development of green textiles from 2021 to 2025. On top of cutting down on energy consumption and carbon emissions, China aims to build a circular economy and create new value-added products based on recycled materials, which would account for 15% of the country's total textile fibre manufacturing. Yarn Expo can help the industry achieve these goals by allowing buyers to discover sustainability directly from the many suppliers at the fair offering eco-friendly products and services, while overseas buyers can make use of our online platform to meet these same exhibitors,” said Wendy Wen, Senior General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd.
Transparency along the entire supply chain and the goal to reduce environmental impact are important issues for the industry. A look at the exhibitors showing at Yarn Expo Autumn proves this. Exhibitors include Cotton Council International from the US, a non-profit organisation, which campaigns for more sustainable and traceable cotton, and Rieter Management AG from Switzerland, the world's leading supplier of short staple fibre spinning systems. The Swiss group will be presenting machines and spinning technologies used to convert natural, manmade and mixed fibres to yarns with the smallest possible consumption of energy, water and chemicals. Several Chinese suppliers will also be presenting their new technologies includeing Qingdao ClusterLoft Co Ltd, which will display its new 100% recyclable EcoCluster filling material. Jilin Chemical Fiber Group Co Ltd will present four product series made from natural material bamboo and Guangdong Quisheng Resources Co Ltd will showcase its solutions for the recycling of textile waste.
To make sure that participants in the next edition of Yarn Expo can connect with ease, the trade show is introducing the new online platform E-Source, which allows exhibitors and buyers from all over the world to get into contact. The all-in-one platform complements the physical event and its hybrid exhibition space. Buyers, who register for Yarn Expo Autumn in advance, will be automatically signed up with E-Source and can contact participants of interest directly.
