Trade Show: Yarn Expo

New fibres, new directions

What are the current sourcing trends influencing the yarn and fibre market? Yarn Expo exhibitors at the upcoming edition (from 12-14 March 2019) are providing the answers.

March 2019

Even more variety: Yarn Expo Spring 2019, one of the leading sourcing platforms in Asia, is growing. Since attracting new distributors and companies, the trade fair has increased its number of exhibitors to 468 from a total of 12 countries and regions – and France and Egypt will also be represented for the first time. The trade fair examines the various sourcing needs on the fibre market: the product palette on show includes natural fibres like cotton, linen and wool, as well as extensive options for fancy yarn, functional fibres and other speciality yarns.

Prior to the event, Yarn Expo spoke to exhibitors about current sourcing trends: “We are finding that more and more consumers are preferring natural fibres in performance garments, so this is a very exciting direction for us,” explains Karin Malstrom, Director of China & Northeast Asia at Cotton Council International, a non-profit organisation that promotes US cotton fibres and US cotton products with the trademark Cotton USA worldwide. “Recently, we’ve seen more companies seeking new and alternative ways to source high-quality materials.”

Yarn Expo Spring, organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd and the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, is taking place at the same time as Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics, Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles, PH Value and the China International Fashion Fair (CHIC) in Hall 8.2 of the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai.
