Wrongs in the world of fashion are no novelty, but they have become more than evident during the past months - disparities in the textile supply chains, retail closures, job losses in factories, social inequality. There is great need for solidarity, but to reach solidarity, all parties have to act in concert. Because cooperation in times of Corona is indeed possible despite social distancing. Under the motto "Together. Now and here", global hub for fashion, sustainability and innovation Neonyt will demonstrate from 19th to 21st January 2021 how it can be done. “For many, the transformation happened virtually overnight – and made it clear just how interlinked yet also fragile the entire system is,” says Thimo Schwenzfeier, Show Director of Neonyt. The winter edition of Neonyt will focus on glocalisation, collaboration, diversity and digitalisation. Various fair fashion players will provide insight also through social media and a dedicated newsletter because cooperation is now as vital as ever before.
The fashion industry has a history of showing solidarity wherever and whenever possible. But the fashion industry is also suffering massive economic losses due to the crisis. Various Neonyt exhibitors including fair fashion brands LangerChen and Lanius will demonstrate how cooperation during the crisis can work. They have started the Fair Fashion Solidarity movement and give brands, stores and consumers concrete recommendations and tips how to continue to promote fair and environmentally friendly fashion. The main pillars of the initiative are togetherness, communication and fairness. Only this way it can be ensured that production and sourcing conditions are sustainable. “We need to show how serious we really are about sustainability through our actions – here and now,” says Schwenzfeuer.
