Focus on retail for 10th anniversary

This summer marks the tenth anniversary of the foundation of Neonyt’s predecessor event, Greenshowroom. In July the anniversary edition of Neonyt will bring together global players and international trailblazers of the fashion industry for the second time under the new name. Once again, Kraftwerk Berlin will become a global hub for fashion, sustainability and innovation. From 2 to 4 July trade visitors can expect an extensive supporting programme featuring discussions and presentations, all with a focus on the topic of retail.

April 2019

In summer 2009 Magdalena Schaffrin and Jana Keller established Greenshowroom. In the process the two designers provided a platform during Berlin Fashion Week for the niche product, sustainable fashion. “We are celebrating one decade of having our finger on the pulse of the latest sustainable fashions. Together with long-standing partners, progressive labels and forward-thinkers from the fashion industry, we have succeeded in establishing a unique, global hub. Season after season, it provides valuable inspiration for the industry and retailers in the context of sustainability and innovation,” says Olaf Schmidt, Vice President of Textiles & Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt, who acquired Greenshowroom in 2011 and has steadily developed it since then.

Neonyt – a word made up from the classical Greek “neo” and the Scandinavian “nytt” which effectively means “the renewed new” – celebrated its debut in 2019. The innovative hub concept originated from the two predecessor trade shows Greenshowroom and Ethical Fashion Show. It is made up of the Neonyt trade show, conference formats like Fashionsustain, the concurrent Thinkathon, the influencer and blogger lounge Prepeek and numerous networking events.

At Kraftwerk Berlin from 2 to 4 July, much of the content will revolve around the topic of retail. In keynote speeches and talks, retail trade experts will address contemporary topics that are directly relevant to the fashion industry such as sustainable purchasing, POS solutions, key performance indicators and systems capability for fair fashion labels, the transfer of expertise to own employees, employer branding, and the strategic communication of sustainability aspects at point of sale. The talks are aimed at conventional multi-label retailers and will always take place in the morning immediately after a daily retail breakfast. In combination with the new earlier opening time of 9 a.m. the retail talks will therefore provide a morning briefing and orientation for the start of each Fashion Week day.

Textile experts at Neonyt will also address a second highly topical subject: water. The potentials of water risk assessment along the textile value chain and concrete measures for the conservation of this vital life resource will be discussed during the conference formats Fashionsustain and Fashionimpact.

In January 2019, 150 national and international sustainable fashion brands from 26 countries showcased their progressive solutions for sustainable fashion at the new look Neonyt. This makes the Neonyt Trade Fair the world’s largest B2B event for innovative sustainable fashion. In July it will once again provide valuable inspiration for a fundamental shift in the way of thinking in the fashion industry.
