July 2020
The year 2020 marks the beginning of a new decade. A good time to look back and take in how the fashion industry has changed over the past years and to get inspiration for the future. Accordingly, the Intertextile Trend Committee has called the trend theme for clothing fabrics for the coming season "Transition". The main theme is divided into the four key trends "Feel Good", "Impact", "Preservation" and "Lyric". "Transition" will dominate the Intertextile Directions Trend Forum, which is part of Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics, running from 23rd to 25th September 2020.
The committee, formed by top international trend forecasters, chose the four key trends because they cover every aspect of evolution within the fashion industry. "Feel Good" uses natural as well as artificial materials in soft shades of colour to create warmth and appeal all our senses. "Impact" is a trend representing a new and modern interpretation of elegance, comprising light-toned colours, geometric designs and extravagant prints. "Preservation" stands for the appreciation of cultures and products that have stood the test of time and focus on reuniting mankind and nature. The spotlight is on sustainable fabrics like organic fur or coarse cotton. The trend "Lyric" is characterised by lush fabrics like velvet and satin and multi-coloured prints.
The autumn edition of Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics is organised by Messe Frankfurt, the Sub-Council of Textile Industry (CCPIT) and China Textile Information Centre. This year, the event will take place at the same time as Yarn Expo, CHIC and PH Value in the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai.
