October 2021

The autumn edition of Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics, which brought some 70,000 visitors and more than 3,000 exhibitors together at Shanghai's the National Exhibition and Convention Center from 9th to 11th October 2021, was a great success. The leading trade show had a hybrid format, allowing exhibitors from all over the world to achieve the best possible business success and many exhibitors returned to present their products in Shanghai in person after a longer break. “We have been extremely pleased to welcome more of the global industry at this Autumn Edition of Intertextile Apparel. Notably, SalonEurope including the Made in Germany area and Milano Unica Pavilion, were greatly received by domestic buyers, with the latter returning for the first time since the pandemic. Together with Asian country and region pavilions, and other international companies, onsite reports from these exhibitors cemented the continued potential for overseas brands in the Chinese market and showed a clear sourcing demand for new, innovative products among Chinese buyers and consumers," says Wendy Wen, Senior General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd. The increase in exhibitor and visitor numbers is encouraging and shows that the industry is currently recovering successfully from the Covid-19 crisis.

For years now, sustainability, innovation and various approaches towards a more environmentally friendly textile and fashion industry have been key issues at Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics. And these issues were in the spotlight once again this year. The number of exhibitors presenting sustainable products increased further over the previous years and the trade show programme provided central insight. Whether it was the "All About Sustainability Zone", the "EcoBoutique", a trend forum focused on sustainability or the several seminars, all demonstrated the importance of sustainability at the trade show and sent out a clear signal for a more environmentally friendly future.
