Resilience, Refuge, Unreason and Booster are the four trends Intertextile Directions Trend Forum's trend committee has selected for this year's autumn edition, which is scheduled to run from 9th to 11th October 2021. The overall theme "E.volution" centres around how fashion evolves and how people and things can evolve through fashion. "Resilience" stands for a slower-paced way of life and focusing on basic needs. Cashmere, woven fabrics, knitwear, velvet and wool in warm beige shades and calming natural colours are the trend's core elements.  Intertextile's second theme "Refuge" symbolises the longing for being protected by nature and finding refuge outside the chaotic city. Materials mimics nature and vegetation with 3D embroideries and flower patterns and visual illusions are found on brushed weaves, tweeds and cotton mixes. The motto "Unreason" focuses on a reality apart, beyond the present gloomy atmosphere and free from social norms, with denim, felted wool, check patterns, patchwork and recycled materials. The trend "Booster" is an individual, playful and digital trend predicting a technologised future of fashion. There are jersey fabrics, fell, mesh and nylon mixes in all kinds of colours and modern pastel tones as well as intense shocking colours.

Other highlights of the coming edition of Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics include functional textiles. The spotlight is on temperature regulating medical fabrics and hygienic textiles, water-repellent materials and antibacterial products that are in high demand due to the continuing Covid-19 pandemic. The latest trends can be viewed from 9th to 11th October 2021 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center Shanghai, or online on the trade show's digital platform.
