The new incubator platform for sustainable innovations in the textile and fashion industry took place on 17 January 2018 at Kraftwerk Berlin, parallel to the tradeshows Ethical Fashion Show Berlin and Greenshowroom. Embedded in the two fairs, the combination of tradeshow and conference forms Europe’s biggest platform for sustainable fashion.
“The successful symbiosis of tradeshow and conference, and of products and content, is a forward-thinking format that creates a space for interdisciplinary interaction. Pioneers and stakeholders from the most diverse segments of the fashion and textile industry are entering into a dialogue and inspiring each other,” is how Olaf Schmidt, Vice President of Textiles and Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt, explains the innovative approach. “We were particularly delighted about the excellent feedback from the audiences. Every presentation was very well attended. This confirms that we are really striking a chord with our progressive line-up,” continues Schmidt.
Parallel to FashionSustain and as part of a Thinkathon, international masterminds and unconventional thinkers from various scientific, economic and creative fields worked on two industry tasks set by challenge hosts Zalando and the Fashion Council Germany. They presented them during team pitches in the large auditorium on the evening of 17 January 2018.
Together with the FashionTech conference (16 January 2018), focusing on the topics of digitalisation and technologies and organised by the Premium Group, the two conference formats made up a two-day content hub with a spotlight on future-oriented innovation topics in the fashion and textile industry.
