Fairyland for fashion

Paris, the land of fashion fairytales: From 17-20 September 2018, the Paris trade fair grounds in Le Bourget will be taking on a fairytale theme when the industry’s top trade fairs will be presenting international exhibitors and their innovative new products to the professional visitors, many of whom will have travelled from afar. Under the new title “The Fairyland for Fashion”, Texworld Paris, Texworld Denim, Leatherworld Paris, Avantex Paris, Shawls & Scarves and Apparel Sourcing Paris will bring together 1,850 exhibitors.

June 2018

A new name, a new trade fair and plenty of innovation: under the title “The Fairyland for Fashion”, the five fashion and textile fairs Texworld Paris, Texworld Denim Paris, Avantex Paris, Shawls & Scarves and Apparel Sourcing Paris will be attracting an international audience of professionals from 17-20 September 2018 in Le Bourget. And the Leatherworld Paris trade fair will also be celebrating its debut. As well as a wide variety of materials of animal origin, synthetic and vegan leathers will also be on show, as well as faux furs. A trend forum and a catwalk show will complete the new offer.

Apparel Sourcing is using its 15-year anniversary as an occasion to further consolidate its position as a global leader in the sourcing of clothing and accessories: the number of exhibitors is expected to increase by up to 5%. The ladies’, men’s and children’s clothing and accessories will be divided up into three different areas: Accessories, Formal Wear and Casual Wear. In the “Small Quantities” and “Sustainable Sourcing” areas, the individual sourcing needs of visitors will be addressed and eco-friendly products showcased. Business talks and a runway show with international expertise will round off the event. And at the Shawls & Scarves trade fair, 40 exhibitors will be presenting a variety of textile accessories for the upper body, from shoulders to head, such as traditional Indian pashminas.

Leading trade fair Texworld Paris is also growing. The exhibition space is being extended by a new hall as a logical consequence of the number of exhibitors increasing to almost 1,000 companies. For the first time, a showcase will be dedicated to one specific material; this coming September the focus will be on silk – and its traditional and innovative production techniques. The aim of Texworld Paris is also to give professional visitors from the industry new insights into market developments, for example with a series of presentations that focuses on the infrastructure project, the “New Silk Road”. A special event is also the trend forum for autumn/winter 2019/2020 and the corresponding fashion show, presenting the winners of the “Festival International des Jeunes Créateurs de Mode” competition. The third edition of Texworld Denim, the leading fair for denim textiles and clothing, is reporting a slight increase in the number of exhibitors and will offer an exciting programme of accompanying events with trend forums and events, as well as a fashion show.

At Avantex, sustainable development technologies will be giving practical and forward-looking insights into the fashion of tomorrow. With around 30 exhibitors, the upcoming September show promises to be a real magnet for professional visitors with an interest in high-tech fashion. Michael Scherpe, President of Messe Frankfurt France, sees Avantex as more than just a sourcing fair: “Avantex has become a real network, an aggregator of ideas, a lab that goes beyond the world of fashion in the strictest sense.” This season, there will be a spotlight on technical textiles from Asia. And with the third edition of the “Fashion Pitch” competition, Avantex is also promoting budding new talents from the textile and clothing industry. In February 2019, candidates will also have the opportunity to present themselves in one of the five segments from the “Tech + Fashion” area and the winner’s collection will also be shown on the catwalk. Presentations and discussion panels on sustainable developments have proven very popular in past seasons and will be informing visitors about new materials and technologies this time too.
