Trade Show: Emitex

A success: Emitex 2019

Emitex 2019 again successfully showcased innovative and promising perspectives for Argentina’s fashion industry, in spite of the country’s challenging economic climate. Here 81 national and international exhibitors showcased new trends, designs and technologies on an exhibition area of 5,600 square metres , attracting 7,572 trade visitors.

April 2019

Argentina remains in severe economic crisis with an inflation rate surpassing 50 per cent and a 32 per cent rise in domestic poverty. Working against this were the exhibitors and visitors of the trade show Emitex, which is widely trusted by Argentina’s textile industry. From 9 to 11 April 2019 textile businesses from Argentina, Brazil, China and Pakistan convened in the Costa Solugero Center in Buenos Aires in order to present their products and services to trade visitors.

The international trade show for suppliers of the apparel industry focused on the latest trends in the sector and innovations along the entire production chain. During the show important trends were presented at the Circuito de Tendencias, which is already in its 35th edition. From sublimation printing to camel and goat fibre production, the conference generated vital input in the field of micro and macro trends for the upcoming winter season and as such supports textile specialists setting out new strategies for their winter collections.

What are the solutions to the country’s problematic economic situation? At Emitex, social projects targeting positive development in a range of social contexts were well received by visitors. The examples presented here included establishing a sustainable silk industry to reduce poverty, or workshops designed to integrate the workforce in the textile industry.

The atmosphere at the trade show was characterised by a strong sense of trust in the future of Argentina’s textile industry, as well as loyalty to Emitex. There was positive feedback from leading contributors such as Patricia Cibelli (Flugel Nicotex): “We take part in almost all editions of Emitex, because it is a very important annual textile gathering in which we can meet our customers, share a good time, show our products […] It is an opportunity to generate new business and sales.”

The next edition of Emitex will take place in April 2020 at the Costa Salugero Center, Buenos Aires in cooperation with Simatex, the international trade show for textile machinery and Confemaq, the international trade show for garment machinery.
