Trade show: Allfashion Sourcing Cape Town

New name, new date

Colourful, loud, authentic: Africa's fashion industry is just waiting to flourish. The trade shows Source Africa and ATF Expo are therefore merging under the new name Allfashion Sourcing Cape Town. However, the trade show in Cape Town has also been postponed until October due to COVID-19.

March 2020

Job creation, economic growth and the economic empowerment of women and young people – in Africa too, the apparel industry could help achieve many of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. But fashion does much more than this: It generates opportunities for cultural identity, innovation and creativity. Last year, the trade shows Source Africa and ATF Expo joined forces to form the largest textile event in Africa. The new name of the influential platform – Allfashion Sourcing Cape Town – will be officially launched in 2020, uniting African design and skills and international sourcing opportunities. The new trade show format spots and caters for the requirements and realities of the South African textile, leather and fashion industries. It also gives the world access to the emergent manufacturing destination of Sub-Saharan Africa.

But just like the official launch of the new name, the scheduled date of the trade show must also be postponed. "We must acknowledge that these are challenging times all around the globe. In light of the South African president’s announcement on COVID-19, it is important for us as trade fair organizers to make the appropriate decision for the safety of our local and international exhibitors, visitors, partners and stakeholders”, says Joshua Low, Managing Director, Messe Frankfurt South Africa. Allfashion Sourcing Cape Town and China Premium Tex, scheduled to take place simultaneously in June 2020, have been postponed until 13–15 October, 2020. The decision was reached jointly by the trade show organisers Messe Frankfurt and CCPIT Tex following in-depth consultations with their partners.
